It is in the 80s when the first careers that continue today arose. In 1995 the first mountain marathon on the peninsula arrived, the Alpine Galarleiz Marathon; in 2001 the Spanish Cup and in 2002 the first official Spanish Championship. Currently in Spain the competitions are distributed (although not consensual) between the Spanish Federation of Climbing and Mountain Sports (FEDME) and the Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA).
