Getting to know Iván Martos a little

Iván Martos (Valencia 21/06/1991) is a personal trainer specialising in HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and one of the first in Spain to compete at the highest national and international level in HYROX, a competition that brings fitness and running together by alternating 8 kilometres of running with 8 workouts; the workouts are 1,000 m ski erg, 50 m sled pull, 80 m burpee broad jumps, 1,000 m rowing, 200 m farmers carry, 100 m sandbag lunges and 75 or 100 wall balls. Every international HYROX event follows the same format: one kilometre of running must be completed before each workout, and every workout has to be finished in full before running the next kilometre. Iván is an official HYROX coach, holds a master’s degree in sports facility management and the Spanish TAFAD qualification (higher technician in physical activities), and is a HIIT training specialist, indoor cycling instructor and pilates instructor.

Personal sporting achievements…

Iván began working with HYROX as an ambassador in Spain in February 2022, before a single event had been held in the country. He has more than 18 competitions behind him, 15 of them in the PRO category, and was one of the Spanish entrants at the 2024 World Championships in Nice.

What you might not know about Iván…

Sport has always been at the centre of Iván’s life. For 25 years, from the age of 6 to 31, he played football as a goalkeeper, reaching the top youth division and spending a spell abroad in Scotland. He was first-choice goalkeeper at major third-division clubs such as Acero, Requena SC and Burriana. When he brought his football career to an end he decided to make his living as a personal trainer, and became a pioneer of HYROX training in Spain.
