Triathlon. 5 tips for the rest period 1These weeks, which go from the second half of October to the last week of November, the vast majority of Spanish triathletes are on a rest period. Although the avalanche of tests in our country makes the season continue for some.
You have to recharge your batteries and find the motivation again, so worn out by the passing of the season.
The Triathlon Channel team of coaches gives you 5 tips so that rest does not become a detriment for the following season.

1º / Rest should not become something eternal, depending on the age it is usually shorter, if you are still young, 1 month of rest is fine. When you are over 35, the 3 week interval would be the right thing to do, and once you go over 40 between one and two weeks at most. Even not stopping and lowering the intensity and sessions a lot, it is also recommended in advanced ages.

2nd / The rest must be total, that is to say that the time that is spent, whatever is the one that we decide, it is necessary to be stopped, even from any sporting activity. We must regenerate the body and also the mind, in such a way that we eagerly join the new course.

3º / The subject of food is also fundamental, you can eat whatever you want, even those obsessed with diets can skip them, nothing happens. Of course, even if you commit excesses, you have to try not to catch more than 5 kg. Exceeding that weight could be harmful, especially because of injuries. Well, fundamentally when it comes to running, our muscles and bones can suffer.

4th / Avoid riot. In this issue, especially among young triathletes, there can be considerable danger, so too much partying can absorb triathletes and make that after the break, they do not compete again and leave the sport, there have already been cases, even among high-level triathletes.
Of course you have to go out, and if you go out a lot during these weeks, nothing happens, it is even good. What must be avoided, and this happens a lot, is that the triathlete who has been repressed for a year of worldly temptations, wants to recover in one night what has been lost in a whole year, and therefore, after the vacation period, leave the body bursting with alcohol, drugs, late nights, and even with some venereal disease.

5th / We leave the subject of the material for the end. Everything that we have been thinking about in races and training to do new for next season, to fit in, buy other shoes, plan the season according to my schedules…. It's the moment.
It is important that we have the changes ready for the beginning of the following season, in this way we will avoid improvising during the races. In addition, an injury caused by a change in our routine is better at the beginning.
