Chronicle of a great fund with a lot of ups and downs

by Paco Amoros

Today Alejandro Gutierrez Martinez He tells us his chronicle of the Gran Fondo de Turis, a career with a lot of ups and downs.

El Great Fund of Turís crossed my agenda of carreers for the first time, and given the characteristics of the profile (hard race), I could not resist participating. The route consisted of a short tour of the town, and then a tour of the outskirts, first downhill continues until approximately 6,5, and then a steep climb to a nearby urbanization; and back the same way.

It was a sunny morning, ideal for running, but with slight gusts of wind that could make the race somewhat difficult. At 10 o'clock the departure was given; the first round through the narrow streets of the town practically stumbling, trying to overtake the Corridors They were going at slower rates to avoid getting cut off and wasting time. As we passed the finish line, the race opened up little by little, as we headed towards the outskirts of Turis.

The Gran Fondo de Turís crossed my racing agenda for the first time, and given the characteristics of the profile (a tough race), I couldn't resist participating. It was a sunny morning, ideal for running, but with slight gusts of wind that could make the race somewhat difficult. At 10 o'clock the start was given; the first lap through the narrow streets of the town practically in fits and starts, trying to overtake the runners who were going at slower paces to avoid getting cut off and losing time. As we passed the finish line, the race opened up little by little, as we headed towards the outskirts of Turís. Until Km 6, the road was practically all downhill, except for a small climb at Km 4. During this route, I just set a good pace and kept it for the climbs that lay ahead. After the 6th, the hardest part of the race came, a climb of about 1,5 km with quite a slope, up to a residential area. With some caution I started the climb, but as I climbed I felt better, so I got up the courage and started to push ahead of several runners. Halfway up the ascent we came across the head of the race that was already going down at a devilish pace. With some suffering I finally reached the top, and after traveling a flat stretch of about 500 m., I launched myself downhill. Now it was time to return by the same site to Turís. The descent with good sensations, almost without accusing the effort of the ramps when going up, and after a few meters of flatness, we went up to the town, along the same one that we had gone down before. In this section the headwind was quite noticeable and at times it was somewhat difficult to run. Already on the climb, I put in the rest and managed to maintain a good pace, and with better sensations than expected, I entered Turís again. After a few meters of strolling through the town, still going slightly uphill, I reached the square where the battle had begun. Regarding the classification: Time: 1:13:29 (at 4:26 m/Km) Finish position: 144 (386 arrived at the finish line) After the finish line, a good supply station with water, Aquarius and coca cola and a spectacular table with different types of sweet cakes, to lick your fingers. As for the race, very good feelings, from less to more, responding very well on the climbs and especially in the final part. Also, I have achieved MMP in this distance, so I am very happy. Also highlight the good organization of the race and the attention to the runner after it. I put it on the calendar for future editions. Alejandro Gutierrez Martinez
