At the 1997 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon this spectacular battle took place between Wendy Ingraham and Sian Welch. After swimming 4 kms, pedaling 180 and running 42, the last meters of this mythical test were witness to the agony experienced by these 2 women who were fighting for fourth place. As the commentator says, the body no longer responds, but the spirit keeps wanting to fight.
It is a clear example of the extreme hardness of this test and the special paste that the athletes who dare with it are made of.
