Getting to know Alejandra Seguí a little

Alejandra Seguí (San Antonio de Benagéber, 20/09/2004) is a triathlete facing her second season as an U23 and, for many experts, she is destined to become one of the great figures of Spanish women’s triathlon in the years to come. She has twice been Spanish junior sprint champion, in 2022 and in 2023, and Spanish U23 runner-up over the Olympic distance (2025). She grew up watching her two older sisters compete in triathlon and started training at the age of 5. At 10 she broke an arm and spent some time away from the bike and from running, but she kept swimming and eventually came back to all three disciplines. In 2021 she was called up by the Spanish Triathlon Federation for the Junior European Cup (in the first race, in Hungary, she was the national team’s leading youth athlete). That year she competed for the first time at the Youth European Championships in Alanya (Turkey), the most important international race in the category, and she finished third at the Spanish Championships. The bronze at the 2021 nationals left a bitter taste because she was aiming for gold, so in 2022 she set out to do everything possible to reach the top step of the podium: she spent the whole of August training in isolation at Sierra Nevada to prepare specifically for the Spanish Championships and won her first national title; a year later she added her second national title in the junior category.

“I am 21, I still have two seasons as an U23, and I think I am on the right track. I know I still need a more eye-catching result and a step up in quality, but I am working to get there. I trust my progress and the process I am following. In 2026 my main goals are to race as many World Cups as possible and to finish in the top 5 at the U23 World Championships”, she says.

What you might not know about Alejandra…

She is studying dentistry at the Universidad Europea. Behind her sweet, shy manner hides an out-and-out competitor: determined, brave, tenacious and with the ambition to reach the international elite of women’s triathlon. She races for Club Esportiu Atlètic Bétera (CEA Bétera), where she also has as a teammate and role model Noelia Juan, Spanish sprint triathlon champion.
