What you might not know about Aitana…

She says she has been a sportswoman for as long as she can remember. She started playing tennis when she was only 4 and for many years tennis was the sport she competed in. She says her time as a tennis player taught her a huge amount, but it also made her face one of the hardest parts of sport: managing nerves in competition; and it was that difficulty that took her away from competitive tennis.

In 2023 she started running almost without meaning to, simply for fun and to keep fit. “Little by little I realised I was good enough to compete and I decided to go for it, but this time with a very different mindset: taking it step by step, without pressure, trying to feel again what I enjoyed as a child”, she explains. Aitana says that thanks to athletics, to Metaesport and above all to her training group, the Ximoteam, she has made peace with the demands of competition.

She combines athletics with her studies in Physiotherapy and Sports Science, with the aim of working in high-performance sport and a particular interest in athletics and cycling, where she would like to work mainly as a physiotherapist. “My dream and my great motivation for the future is to bring together my two big passions: sport and looking after the body, supporting other athletes on their journey, from both personal and professional experience”, she explains.
