What you might not know about Lucía…
Lucía has a twin sister called María who is also an elite athlete. Lucía was born first, but the doctor told their mother that María was the elder because she had spent longer in the womb, so Lucía is the younger of the Valero sisters. Since 2026 they have worn the Metaesport colours together, the club where they both started out in the U16 category, although their competitive paths later diverged and Lucía went on to compete for Juventud Atlética de Elche and Super Amara BAT. The resemblance between them, even though they are not identical twins, is remarkable: to tell them apart you have to look for a freckle on María’s face. Lucía is an early years teacher.
