Sete Cerdán de la Torre

An example of commitment, dedication and drive

Sete Cerdán de la Torre
Sete has built up long experience in races over any distance. He has been a finisher at several Ironman events, has run more than twenty marathons (in 2024 in Seville he set his PB with 2h34'45") and for some years now he has thrown himself body and soul into long-distance trail running.

Getting to know Sete Cerdán de la Torre a little

José Cerdán de la Torre (‘Sete’) is passionate about running and trail running, especially long-distance events. In 2022 he made one of his great sporting dreams come true: the 101 Kilómetros de Ronda, finishing 22nd overall in a time of 10h46′. Methodical, disciplined and impossible to discourage. Once he sets a goal he pursues it relentlessly and with admirable perseverance. At 40 he is still stockpiling dreams and sporting challenges because, as he puts it, “you have to set yourself ambitious goals to keep your motivation and commitment at full throttle”.

Personal sporting achievements…

Sete has raced a great deal since he first pinned on a number in 2008 at events such as the Marató de Borriol and the MIM Penyagolosa… But in 2011 he fell in love with long-distance triathlon and for five consecutive years he devoted himself to collecting finisher medals at events such as Ironman Regensburg, Extreme Man Salou (finishing 2nd in his age group), Ironman Nice, Vitoria-Gasteiz Triathlon and Embrunman. During those years, as preparation for his Ironman challenges, he raced several marathons and half marathons, duathlons, open-water swims and cyclosportives. In 2016 and 2017 he took part in the Quebrantahuesos, and he is one of the few runners who can boast of having been on the start line of every edition of the Valencia Mountain Marathon (MAMOVA) since its first running in 2011 (except in 2017). In 2023 he finished the MiM at Penyagolosa Trails in 6h:45′, achieving his big goal of going under 7 hours. In 2024 he set his marathon personal best in Seville, with 2h:34′:45″.

What you might not know about Sete…

Sete has been committed to platelet donation for years and has now passed 100 donations, which has earned him recognition from the Generalitat Valenciana. And as well as collecting platelet donations, he also collects the race numbers of every competition he has taken part in, close to three hundred of them. He swears he has never tasted alcohol: “I have no idea what a beer or a sangría tastes like, because I have never tried them”.
