Javi Guerra becomes a new 42K ambassador. The athlete from Segovia will collaborate with 42K and will be the face of one of the new technical t-shirt collections launching in 2023.
For 42K, it is a great honor to have the four-time Spanish champion and one of the great references of 21st-century Spanish long-distance running among its athlete-ambassadors.

Javi Guerra, four-time Spanish marathon champion
On April 16, he won his fourth Spanish championship title at the Zaragoza marathon (ten years after winning it for the first time in La Coruña), distinguishing himself as the dominant force in the Spanish marathon over the last decade, a discipline in which he has numerous appearances in World and European championships.
Javi Guerra’s main sporting goal is the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Qualification for the next Olympic event will be decided at the upcoming Seville marathon, which will take place on February 18, 2024, and will host the Spanish Championship for the distance.
In Seville, Javi Guerra will seek the qualifying time to make it to an Olympic event for the third time (he was an Olympian in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020). He has experienced great sporting moments in the Sevillian capital (where he won his second and third Spanish championship titles in 2018 and 2020, the latter with his personal best of 2:07:27), and his determination is to prepare thoroughly this year to earn the right to be an Olympian in Paris 2024.
More than two decades at the top
Javi Guerra (Segovia, 1983) has been part of the national and international athletics elite for over two decades. His international sporting resume began in the junior category with a 9th place finish in the 2001 European Cross Country Championships, which earned him a spot in the Junior World Championships that same year. A year later, he was called up for the World Junior Athletics Championships in the 5,000 meters (15th).
Between 2005 and 2010, he represented Spain in various World and European cross country championships. In 2009, he reached the top of the podium at the Spanish 10km Road Championship, and in 2013, he added his name for the first time to the list of Spanish marathon champions, a list where his name now appears four times: La Coruña 2013, Seville 2018, Seville 2020, and Zaragoza 2023.

Javi Guerra’s sporting longevity has a family precedent in his father, Paco Guerra, who became the Spanish cross country champion in Amorebieta at the age of 40. Paco Guerra’s story is surprising because he left athletics at 23 and returned seven years later to compete again with the best national cross country runners and become an international at the European Cross Country Championships.
